Attn: Dario Frommer, Appointments Secretary
Dear Governor Davis,
I am writing this in support of the applications of Philip Campbell and Dr. Mary Cerreto for the positions of Director and Deputy Director of the Department of Developmental Services. I have read their Statement of Interest, Resume and Curriculum Vitae. I think they can provide the effective, visionary and innovative leadership especially needed in California at this time. It would be good to have new blood from out of state for a change.
I am the parent of a 24 year old adult with a developmental disability. We have had experience with the whole spectrum of the system, from developmental center to supported living in the community. I have some knowledge of what other states have accomplished through reading and attending conferences. I also worked for a time as an assessor with Area Board VII's Quality Assurance Project. This made me even more aware of how far California has yet to go in providing options and choice for its citizens with developmental disabilities, as mandated by the Lanterman Act.
I appreciate your consideration of the appointment of Mr. Campbell and Dr. Cerreto for these positions and hope you will react as favorably to them as I do.
Sincerely,
Paula Maziar
